The music brings us together.
Open your hearts and hear it.
(Brenda Higgins)
PROGRAM NOTES:
I was invited to write a piece for the Limon-Woodlin Music Club, which is a women’s choir that performs a Christmas Vespers concert early in December each year in Limon, Colorado. I grew up in this community, so it was a pleasure to offer a piece of music to women I have known for many years. The lyrics were created by Brenda Higgins, who is co-director of the choir along with Kim Taussig.
The piece does not have typical Christmas tidings, but I was interested in the ideas of solidarity and human connection created through music-making and that this is a message to highlight during the holidays.
